Hi, I’m David–I’m a writer and editor.

My novels include The Danish Girl, which was adapted into an Oscar-winning film and named by the New York Times as one of books that have shaped LGBTQ Literature in recent decades, and the #1 bestseller The 19th Wife, which was adapted into a television movie.

I’m Editor-in-Chief of Hogarth, an imprint of Random House, and an Executive Editor at Random House. I’ve edited books that have won the Pulitzer Prize in fiction, history, and biography, the National Book Award in fiction, and more than 25 New York Times bestsellers.

Out magazine has twice featured me on its annual Out 100 list of the most impactful LGBT people for my work in the literary world. As you can probably tell, I love stories, writers, and words.
